NWN2 small review

February 24th, 2007

Hello,

finally have some time to spare to write my own mini review of NWN2. First of all, I am both deligthed and disappointed. Why? Easy. Delighted because for the first time all the AD&D 3.5 rules are implemented in a RPG game. Disappointed, because the game has lot of bugs :( yeah, seriously, too many bugs, if you don’t believe me just check the NWN2 official forums and you can see tons of posts complaining about this and that bug :|

I myself have a savedgame that crashes in a precise point of the game (entering a room in the Warehouse in Neverwinter Merchant Quarter) and still nobody answered my question. They sometime even say “your savegame got corrupted”!! so what, I have to restart from scratch????

No seriously, if you’re lucky you can play it and have lot of fun. My brother for example has finished it, without any problem. But isn’t my case…

Beside that, the plot seem interesting (remember that I couldn’t finish it because of the bug) and the character voices and “acting” is very nice. The main theme music is very good, while during the game they recycled some of the NWN1 themes, but I don’t find it so bad (I loved their soundtracks).

So in conclusion, what to say… excellent combat system and rules (even if I actually prefer Turn Based combat!), interesting story, good characters… but also, very resource consuming, lot of bugs, and a general feeling that the game was rushed out (once again) before it was really tested.

Let’s hope they do some data-disk/expansion packs so maybe I can try playing those…!
